Val Martello
Val Martello (German: Martelltal) is one of the Val Venosta secondary valleys; it starts in Laces (German: Latsch) and it continues till the Gioveretto (German: Zufrittsee) artificial lake. Val Martello is all included in the Stelvio National Park (Italian: Parco nazionale dello Stelvio, German: Nationalpark Stilfser Joch), a very popular hiking trips destination. Val Martello isn’t famous just thanks its beautiful landscapes, but thanks to its tasty strawberries, cultivated till 1700 meters of altitude. To “feast” this product, an important gastronomic event takes place at the end of June; during this feast, a huge strawberry cake is cut into slices! Val Martello in winter offers: biathlon, Nordic ski, sledging, ice-skating, snow hiking trips. The most important mountain resorts in Val Martello are: Castelbello-Ciardes (German: Kastelbell-Tschars) and Laces (German:Latsch).
